Today, I’m
glad to be here live as Decency Initiative presents “A Healthy Confrontation
Brings True Happiness”. As the book of Ecclesiastics chapter three verses seven
rightly said “A time to be silent, and a time to speak”.
Confrontation
can be healthy and unhealthy. What differentiates a healthy and an unhealthy
confrontation is the way and manner is been carried out. Confronting at a time
someone is ready to give a listening ear takes a lot of wisdom. It is good
never to confront someone when you are angry, first, calm down and be polite
when confronting.
Some women
end up in big problem with their husbands because of the wrong way they
confront him. It is very wrong to challenge your husband as if he is your house
boy. It does not matter the position of respect God has given you, your salary
may be fatter than his but never you challenge him as if you are the head. No,
he is the head, even when he makes mistakes, he remains the head, God made it
so and there is nothing anyone can do about it, so be polite when confronting
him and do it with submission and respect.
On the other
hand, men should also try to confront their wives with love, it is their duty
to love her; hence he should challenge her with love and not with condemnation.
If you make your wife feel like a slave in your home, she will never be happy
and as long as she is sad, you cannot be happy because you are one flesh.
Therefore,
Decency Initiative is reminding us all to partake in healthy confrontation and
not unhealthy type. What is the need confronting someone anyway when the person
is not going to learn from his/her mistakes.
I will like
to end with this word of admonishment I learnt from my good friend. She said
“IF YOU WANT PEOPLE TO BEHAVE LIKE ANGELS AROUND YOU, CREATE A HEAVEN FOR
THEM”. I love this statement so much. Honestly, you cannot create a hellish
kind of atmosphere and expect people to behave like Angels. So encourage people
to be good and not the other way round.
TILL I COME YOUR WAY AGAIN, CHEERS!
